Course Description+
Art Camp provides an exploration of a variety of visual arts media to develop campers' creativity and individuality. These young artists will be wire sculpting, painting, weaving, creating unique jewelry, drawing, pottery making, constructing mosaics, and creating weekly multicultural projects. Campers will have an hour free period choice each day and will also participate in all special events that are on campus. A healthy lunch, snack, popsicle, and daily swim are included in this co-ed program. Each week will be a different theme and have different projects. Although our specialty camps have a range of different aged campers all campers are grouped with other campers closest to their age. Our energetic and fully-trained staff are carefully selected based on experience, character, and leadership. Every staff member is background checked, as we continue to maintain the highest level of safety and security on campus.
Meet Kelly McCurdy+
Kelly McCurdy earned her degree in the Social Sciences from Stockton University and currently works at Manatee Elementary. The amazing experiences she had as a childhood camper led her to a 25+ year career as a camp counselor and camp director. After spending many wonderful summers at a sleep-a-way camp in the Adirondacks she moved to sunny Florida and has loved teaching art, history and techniques to campers at American Heritage Summer Art Camp since 2017.
Meet Sacha Alvarez+
Sacha Alvarez has been working in the academic world since high school. She began early on as an after-school care counselor, moved on to the collegiate level, and has since become a 3rd grade teacher. Over the past 4 years she has worked in Somerset Academy Boca and enjoys the ability to work in an environment that allows her to build relationships with her students and parents. This will be her 6th year at American Heritage and she loves the ability to share her creativity in the Art Camp with her campers.
