Course Description+
The Junior High Math Enrichment is an advanced course for students entering 7th grade who wish to increase skills in the areas of Pre-Algebra and Algebra. Students will explore topics such as exponents and roots, linear equations, one- and two-step algebraic equations, and probability. Students will be applying fraction, decimal, and integer skills in solving equations. Students will be exposed to more profound concepts used in Pre-Algebra and Algebra. Students in this course are drawn from grades 6 - 8. Each student will receive an individualized learning plan based on their skill level.

Each session is unique, so your child will benefit from taking more than one session.
Meet Tina Whipple+
Tina Whipple has been a sixth grade teacher at American Heritage School for 20 years.She is the department chair for sixth grade math and the sixth grade team. Tina has taught for the American Heritage Summer School Program, including the Math Enrichment course, for several years.
Meet Barbara Tomason+
Barbara Tomason is an educator with over 20 years of experience in teaching. Ms. Tomason graduated from Seton Hall University and with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Speech Pathology/Audiology. Barbara has taught a broad range of subjects. Most recently, Barbara's focus has been in teaching junior high. Ms. Tomason was nominated for the Dwyer Award for excellence in education in Palm Beach County. She is an exceptional teacher who employs creative learning styles and fosters a love for leaning in her students. Ms. Tomason has been with American Heritage School for the past eight years. Barbara exudes a passion for teaching which shines in her teaching.
Additional Course Information+
A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
