Course Description+

Students who are working below grade level entering first grade will benefit greatly from our research-supported curriculum designed to give individual attention to each student. Basic literacy and math skills are reinforced using a variety of best practices and teaching techniques. Students are also exposed to Social Studies and Science topics through literacy. All material is tailored to each student's skill level. Executive functioning skills are incorporated daily, including study skills, organization, and problem-solving.

Session 2A: 6/30/25- 7/18/25 (8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.) (EST) - Closed 7/04/25
Session 3A: 7/21/25 - 8/08/25 (8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.) (EST)

Each session is unique, so your child will benefit from taking more than one session.

Meet Andrea Spradling+

Andrea Spradling has been part of the American Heritage School English faculty for 16 years. She holds a BA and a MS in Education and is certified in ESE K-12, Elementary School and Junior High Grades English (7-9th). Her passion is helping students with learning disabilities reach their academic potential. She is currently teaching Reading Lab pull outs for grades 2-10th, Writing Seminar (9th-10th grade), Great Books, and Literature & the Arts 7. Andrea incorporates strategies, tools, and assistive technology that benefit students of all levels. She helped to launch and teach the first American Heritage School summer program for elementary grades and has continued to be part of the summer programs at American Heritage Summer Institute.

Meet Linda Frank+

Linda Frank has taught at American Heritage School for 20 years. She has a BS in Elementary Education and an MEd. in Special Education and maintains certification in both areas. She has spent the last 28 years enjoying teaching and touching the lives of others. Linda has taught grades kindergarten through third grade as well as special education classes and preschool. In addition, she has spent numerous years tutoring students in need of extra help in both reading and math.

Additional Course Information+

A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
