Course Description+
It is never too early to begin the scientific, mathematical adventure of working with machines as you learn to program an action. Our little engineers are the engineers of tomorrow. This program has been created for campers entering 1st or 2nd grade as an introduction into the world of Robotics. Campers will be given fun tasks and color coded missions to complete as they learn basic coding on ipads. This program is sure to give your child a phenomenal first experience as they begin their exciting new journey into engineering and robotics.
Meet Robotics Tai Donovan+
Mr. Donovan earned his teaching degree in Early and Secondary Science Education from the State University of New York at Cortland. During his 20 years of teaching, he has introduced thousands of students to robotics and technology. For the past nine years, Mr. Donovan has taught Science and Robotics at American Heritage School where he is the Director of the Robotics Program helping to design the curriculum and manage the teaching staff. Mr. Donovan is also the founder and Lead Mentor of the award winning FIRST Robotics Competition Team 5472, Stallion Robotics .In 2015 he partnered with LexisNexis to create an internship opportunity for American Heritage students and every year his robotics students create sophisticated autonomous vehicles sponsored by LexisNexis/HPCC. In recognition of his efforts, LexisNexis presented him with an award for Innovative use of HPCC Systems in the community. Mr. Donovan’s love of building robots was further rewarded in 2018 when he had the opportunity to compete on Discovery Channel’s TV show, Battlebots as a member of team Axe Backwards.
Meet Robotics David Robbins+
With 17 years of dedicated teaching experience, Mr. David Robbins has been instrumental in nurturing young minds through his roles as an engaging PE teacher, a Robotics Lego League coach, and an Innovation Lab teacher. His commitment to fostering creativity and critical thinking and inspiring a passion for learning in his students has made him an invaluable asset to the American Heritage Schools community.
Additional Course Information+
Camper groupings vary by program. Day Camp programs will be grouped by age/grade/gender, Specialty Programs are grouped together by age, interest, and/ or skill level. Programs are not guaranteed and require a minimum enrollment. Campers are supervised at all times by our energetic and fully-trained staff. Our counselors are carefully selected based on experience, character, and leadership. Every staff member is background checked, as we continue to maintain the highest level of safety and security on campus. At American Heritage Day Camp we do our very best to make sure our staff is placed with the appropriate age group to ensure a successful and fun summer.
