Course Description+
It is never too early to begin the scientific, mathematical adventure of working with machines as you learn to program an action. Our little engineers are the engineers of tomorrow. This program has been created for campers entering 1st or 2nd grade as an introduction into the world of Robotics. Campers will be given fun tasks and color coded missions to complete as they learn basic coding on ipads. This program is sure to give your child a phenomenal first experience as they begin their exciting new journey into engineering and robotics.
Meet Robotics Coach Massimo Salafia+
Massimo Salafia earned his degree at the Engineering Trade School in Friedbeng, Germany and then worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Pheiffer GmbH, Faust GmbH and Gassella GmbH in Frankfurt, Germany. Mr. Salafia holds several intellectual patents on mechanical devices, and he brings his experiences to the Pre-Engineering Prototyping Lab at American Heritage.He has been a mentor for the FIRST Robotics Competition Team since 2009, imparting his knowledge with students to help them foster intellectual growth. His goal as an engineering teacher at American Heritage School and Robotics Camp is to share his passion for engineering and provide a learning environment where students feel safe, welcome, and motivated to be the next generation of problem solvers.
Meet Ceclia Case+
Cecilia Case is the Lower School/Junior High dance instructor at American Heritage School. She has been part of the Fine Arts family for the last 8 years where she has choreographed numerous musicals, dance concerts and currently is the director of AHS Dance Ensembles and Patriot Dancers. Homegrown here is South Florida, she began dancing at 2.5 and has never stopped. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Communication and minors in Dance, Dance Education and Sociology from Florida Atlantic University. She has trained with numerous master teachers and is currently a member of Dance Educators of America, National Dance Education Organization and Dance Masters of America. In recent years, her students have been on So You Think You Can Dance, attended prestigious college programs and worked professionally in the dance world. Mrs. Case looks forward to having you join her this summer!
Additional Course Information+
Camper groupings vary by program. Day Camp programs will be grouped by age/grade/gender, Specialty Programs are grouped together by age, interest, and/ or skill level. Programs are not guaranteed and require a minimum enrollment. Campers are supervised at all times by our energetic and fully-trained staff. Our counselors are carefully selected based on experience, character, and leadership. Every staff member is background checked, as we continue to maintain the highest level of safety and security on campus. At American Heritage Day Camp we do our very best to make sure our staff is placed with the appropriate age group to ensure a successful and fun summer.
