Course Description+
Students who are working below grade level entering fifth grade will benefit greatly from our customized curriculum designed to give individual attention to each student. Literacy, math, and higher-order thinking skills are reinforced using best practices, a variety of teaching techniques, and specific material that is tailored to each student's skill level, including exposure to Language Arts, Reading and Math. Executive functioning is incorporated daily, including study skills, organization, and problem solving.

Each session is unique, so your child will benefit from taking more than one session.
Meet Kristen Fonteciella+
Kristen Fonteciella holds a Bachelor's degree and has been a permanent substitute at American Heritage Schools in grades Pre-K 3 to 6th grade for two years. She has five years prior experience being a 2nd-grade teacher and is certified by the Florida Department of Education. She has a passion for helping students excel and ensuring that the needs of every child are met.
Meet Jayme McMahon+
Jayme McMahon is currently a faculty member at American Heritage School. She earned a MS in Special Education for Birth-12th grade from Long Island University. She has been teaching for ten years and has taught grades kindergarten through 8th grade. She has taught the lower school enrichment courses for the Summer Institute for 5 years
Meet Andrea Spradling+
Andrea Spradling has been part of the American Heritage School English faculty for 16 years. She holds a BA and a MS in Education and is certified in ESE K-12, Elementary School and Junior High Grades English (7-9th). Her passion is helping students reach their academic potential. She is currently teaching Reading Lab pull outs for grades 2-10th, Writing Seminar (9th-10th grade), Great Books, and Literature & the Arts 7. Andrea incorporates strategies, tools, and assistive technology that benefit students of all levels. She helped to launch and teach the first American Heritage School summer program for elementary grades and has continued to be part of the summer programs at American Heritage Summer Institute.
Meet Lauren Kramer+
Lauren Kramer is a veteran teacher with 20 years of teaching experience. For the past eight years she has taught at American Heritage School and has been Director of Reading for the last five years. She runs Cover to Cover, a campus book club. She was voted Teacher of the Year in 2015. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Education in Reading, with additional certification in ESOL (K-12). She is in the process of completing her National Board Certification.
Additional Course Information+
A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
